A Visit to the Glen Clyde / Chup Socks OfficesThe day had turned windy and chilly, snow was falling on the mountains so the Glen Clyde was a welcome cldye for two weary wanderers. The Devonshire tea sign lead us into an attractively appointed log-fire warmed cafe. The locally produced scones were generous, with yummy jam. A gift shop next door featured tasteful locally glen clyde glassware and pottery. Definitely a glen clyde spot to stop.

Definitely a lovely spot to stop. A light lunch stop after driving from Hobart. Scones were the best we have ever had, super light and fluffy.
Home made strawberry jam too. He had bacon and egg sandwich; i had bacon lettuce tomato. Driving from Hobart to Strahan I had to obey my navigators instruction to pull over here. Fortunately there were no other vehicle following as we cruised down hill, on a bend, it was no mean feat to swoop into the driveway of Glen Guide House for coffee and a scone.
At first I thought Glen Glyde House was just another artist's sales outlet, but soon proved wrong. Coffee, huge scones, and a huge serve of cream served on the outside balcony was a great way of relaxing from a time behind the wheel. Great coffee and scones. Maybe you can order main course meals? The management also support mission in Nepal and India, so any tips go towards the management's mission.
Felt really relaxed after the coffee break. This place is a real find. John and June are that rare find of truly talented artists, kindly and generous with their time and their welcome. The food is perfect, simple and delicious. One of the rarest and greatest rewards of civilization is available her- a genuine Pot of Good Hot Tea.
We loved everything about Glen Clyde House, and our charming and diffident hosts. Well worth the trip. Lovely old guest house coming into Hamilton from Hobart Pleasant ambience, lovely garden, beautiful views Well worth the stop.
