They weren't really painful though, just very uncomfortable. They took internal swabs to test whether I was in labour or if it was imminent negative result and checked my cervix which was closedthen sent me home, telling me to keep an eye on things. I think the steroids could have had something to do with this 'episode' but can't be certain. Best of luck with everything xx.
Steroid Injections? - Circle of Moms

Best of luck with everything xx. I was already in early labour with ds1 and threatened early labour with ds2. I went a further 4 weeks with ds2. Out of interest why have you been given them this late on? I asked the same question about why I needed them at this stage. Because I'm having a section due to GD and breach position the baby won't automatically release what it needs to for the lungs as it's being yanked out before ready. They're giving me the steroids just as a precaution.
They don't go through the birth canal and therefore can retain some fluid on the lungs. OP original poster - I've had steroids in my last 3 pregnancies and will have them again next week, they've never brought on labour x. Good luck for your c section Sam xx. I can't remember if I had any side effects but Def not tightening as that was something I had to look out for x.

I had steroid injections with both ds dear son pregnancies. Pp- most trusts will give them up to 39 weeks if delivering by elective c section as baby's born by c section are more prone to breathing difficulties.
I didn't know that. I had them at 24 weeks and no labour yet! Keep me updated with new comments. This thread is napping. In Reply to FunMoonMoon. More posts in "December Birth Club" group.
