I applied through college or university. The process took 3 days. The Interview Process was basic. I went through two interviews one over the phone and the second with the store manager s.
The phone interview was just an explanation about the company and duties of the job. The in person interview was a little more challanging. If you didn't do simple research you would be filtered out. The store manager asked me simple what would you do scenario questions.
The process took 2 weeks. Ok , so here's the thing I applied for a brand new made up position that doesn't exist in any of the Decathlon branches. This position was being filled in San Francisco for their brand new location opening up in America. I applied online was contacted Via Email, set up a phone interview with another fellow, went downtown SF to meet them at a We Work location to do an in person interview.
Talked with them for over 2 hours. And then at the end was asked about compensation. After going through the process and being told about what I would need to be doing and given the title of the position and how much I felt like I should be paid I politely told them.
I could write down how much I asked for on this review but I won't. Two days later I got a denial. All I could guess was I asked for to much but I really didn't! I just laughed because it was clear they had put the wrong title in the wrong city. A Junior Brand Manager is a very different position than a retail sales manager and I'm assuming they realized that after interviewing more candidates who asked for normal San Francisco salaries.
I really wanted to work for this company I really did I was super excited but I am not convinced I was unqualified. I am almost certain I was denied because of salary which is still a shame because I would of negotiated.
I really wish them the best of luck in San Francisco , but I wanted to give my experience so possible candidates can further prepare themselves. The interview last about 45 minutes. Similar question to the telephone one.
The manager was really nice, we had a nice chat. He just want to figure out my personality and to see if I have a clear mind. I interviewed at Decathlon. First round will be sport round, which consists of beep test, one on one competition with other candidates and finally team related games like Frisbee or Football. Second round will be panel discussion where you will be judged based on your attitude, passion and very minimal technical. For last round they request you to come down their place in a week day to work with them for a day.
Written test - basic quantitative techniques and a bit of basic accounting question. The interview process lasted over 3hrs. We were asked to go to the store and find products we could improve on or that we like and why.
We were put in groups of two and we had to present the other member to the rest of the people. We were then split in 2 groups where we had to come up with a new game with a set of rules base don few objects that were given to us. Lastly, there was an individual interview with a member of the HR. I interviewed at Decathlon Santiago Chile in January The interview has last one hour, where the interviewer has talked about her experience first, and then it is the time of the possible candidate.
The questions were appearing meanwhile the interview was going forward, moreover, education was one of the first thing that were discussed. The process took a week. I interviewed at Decathlon Bengaluru India in January I interviewed at Decathlon Bengaluru India. Decathlon India has a very stupid selection process for IT skills. They will call you early in morning at the end of the city their anubhav complex near Airport. First round is Sports round which interviewer will tell its not fitness test round, its to check team skills and other criteria.
But when you go there, they will do two drills of some exercises and running. Everything on individual level, no team activity, nothing. They had called around 40 people and it took them hardly 15 mins to get done with the round. Then they take you for breakfast and ask you to introduce yourself and tell a joke. The most uninterested people in those introductions were recruiters themselves.
And then said, wait for 10 mins, we will come back with shortlist. And to utter disappoinment of participants there, they called out 6 names from 40 people. So which means Sports round was a fitness test and only sports people could clear and that too all very young people. And all of us were like, what this stupidity is. Why you had to call so many participants and what was this show about? Why it was not communicated to participants in thier invitation mail that Sports round is a competitive round and it's all about fitness, fitness and fitness.
They will say it's fun but believe me it's not. It's wastage of your time and money to travel that far. These people should be sued who are hiring IT people who are supposed to sit in office based on their sports fitness level and that too with wrong communications.
I was there on 16th December IT recruitment drive. I have never felt so cheated during a selection process. Would you like us to review something?
